Along the North shore of the Pearl Harbor, rests a city which boasts of its impressive GNP which is widely generated from pearl production and pearl exporting. Pearl City has a total area of 5.8 square miles; 5 square miles of which is land and .8 of which is water.
This community is pretty central and allows for easy access to all areas of the island. The neighborhoods vary from single family homes, townhomes, and condos – there’s definitely a place for any type of housing need.

A local favorite restaurant in Pearl City is Gyotaku Restaurant which usually has long lines of patrons from lunch to dinner time.
University of Hawaii’s Leeward Community College campus is also located within this community. It serves the Leeward part of the island. This can be a lifesaver for some who do not want to commute to the Honolulu location.
Interesting factoid: Pearl City High School (pictured above-left) is the home of the two most sought after sculptures in the world, the “Moon Behind the Fence” and the “Kua Kua Lua.”
Demographics:
As of the census of 2000, there were 30,976 people, 8,921 households, and 7,288 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 6,215.5 people per square mile (2,401.6/km²). There were 9,181 housing units at an average density of 1,842.2/sq mi (711.8/km²).
There are 8,922 households out of which 25.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.9% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.3% are non-families. 14.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.17 and the average family size is 3.48.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 13.7% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 115.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 117.3 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $62,036, and the median income for a family is $67,246.
